Collegiate Baseball tabs FSU's Robinson as player of the year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Collegiate Baseball named Florida State center fielder Shane Robinson as its national player of the year Thursday.<br> <br> A 5-foot-9 leadoff hitter, Robinson had a school record 40-game hitting streak earlier this season and finished the year batting .439 with 118 hits, 91 runs, 46 stolen bases, 40 RBIs, five homers and a .539 on-base percentage.<br> <br> He leads the nation in runs scored, and is among the top 10 in hits, at bats, steals, batting average, on base percentage, doubles and total bases. He also claimed the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season batting title.<br> <br> ``It is nice to be honored like this,&#39;&#39; Robinson said. ``It is mind boggling. It really hasn&#39;t set in yet. ... I just want to keep doing what I have been doing all season.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> Robinson is only the third sophomore to win the award, joining Delaware&#39;s Kevin Mench (1998) and Arizona State&#39;s Mike Kelly (1990). He&#39;s the second Seminole to win the award joining current Los Angeles Dodgers&#39; outfielder J.D.
