NEW YORK - Atlanta Thrashers teammates Iyla Kovalchuk and Dany Heatley have been named candidates for the NHL's rookie of the year.
Kristian Huselius of Florida joined Kovalchuk and Heatley Wednesday in being nominated for the Calder Trophy.
The league announced finalists for seven trophies. The winners will be announced on June 20th.
Heatley led the Thrashers and NHL rookies in scoring with 67 points.
Kovalchuk was second with 51 points and led the club with 29 goals despite missing the final 16 games of the season with an injury to his collarbone.
