Banks County Fire and Emergency Services said a lightning storm is the possible cause of a Friday barn fire in Alto.

Banks County Fire, as well as Jackson County Fire Services, responded to reports of a structure fire at 4995 Yonah Homer RD in Alto.

When units arrived, they found a detached barn well involved with flames.

Banks fire officials said the fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

“The cause of the Fire appears to be accidental and a lightning storm in the area can’t be ruled out,” fire officials said in a release.

The barn was heavily damaged from the incident, and the fire was extinguished around 3:11 p.m.
