A single-vehicle wreck Saturday, June 3, in Madison County, resulted in the death of a Commerce area man, according to state officials.
The Georgia State Patrol reported Friday the wreck happened just after 4 p.m. on Hudson River Church Road near its intersection with Drake Woods Road.
Troopers determined that a Ford Crown Victoria was driving north on the roadway when the driver left the roadway, traveled through a fence and struck a tree. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Athens Banner-Herald reported the man was identified by the Madison County Coroner as David O'Neal Ritter, 66, who had a Commerce address.
