The Hall County Planning Commission voted unanimously Monday night in favor of a rezoning that would allow for single-family homes, caretaker residences and an equestrian farm.

The area in question sits at 4465 Peckerwood Road and covers 127.81 acres of land. The current plat is zoned as Residential I and Agricultural Residential IV. Applicant Walter R. Hope in coordination with Total Construction aims to rezone the property to Agricultural Residential IV.

The intent of the landowner is to build an equestrian farm with caretaker residences. They plan to develop a main house, stables, equipment shed, shop and hay-shaving barn. Additionally, site plans indicate animal stalls and a riding ring, as well as paddocks and pastures for horses.

Due to the private nature of the proposed rezoning, the applicant declined to provide comments.

The Planning Commission’s approval recommendation will now be forwarded to the Board of Commissioners for a final vote on March 23.
