District 2 Public Health announced Tuesday that the COVID-19 testing site at Sherwood Plaza in Hall County will close on May 31.

A press release from District 2 said the closure comes after a drop in testing demand.

The testing site opened in Fall 2021 as a partnership with District 2, Northeast Georgia Health System and Mako Labs.

District 2's testing sites in Forsyth and Union counties will remain open. Their addresses are available below:

The health department said that while testing remained important, vaccination is the best tool against COVID-19.

"It is not too late to get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster if eligible," the release reads. "Everyone 5 and older can be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive a booster.  To learn more about COVID-19 visit phdistrict2.org."
