Area 3-3A golf: Bluff, Dawson Co. boys; NHall, White Co. girls headed to state

CLARKESVILLE — Cherokee Bluff edged Dawson County by two strokes to capture Area 3-3A runner up on Monday at Apple Mountain Golf Club.

Meanwhile, in the girls tournament, North Hall and White County qualified for the state tournament. And, Cherokee Bluff's Alisa Pressley qualified by low medalist honors firing a  72 to beat Westminster's Jessie Young by three strokes.

The Lady Trojans shot a 261 to edge the Lady Warriors (262) by a skinny stroke but were eight shots back of region winner Westminster (253).

In the boys tournament, Bluff turned in a 297 while Dawson County shot a 299 and both will play in the Class 3A in Augusta on May 17-18. Bluff also was crowned the Region 7-3A champion as well. 

Westminster turned in a 14-under par as a team to walk away with the area title.

Jackson Wyrick and TJ Harris stroked 1-over 73 to lead Cherokee Bluff. Levi Huff shot a 74 and Caleb Vancil carded a 73. 

Alex Hughes shot a team-low 71 to lead the Tigers. Christian Roper turned in a 73, Jeremy Ray finished with a 76, and Will McNatt had a 79.
