A single-vehicle accident in Rabun County killed a Hiawassee man late Monday morning.

Randolph Lee Franklin, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene on S.R. 76 near Turkey Gap Road, which is west of Clayton.

"Upon our arrival, we noticed a 2000 White Nissan Frontier Truck that ran off the roadway's north shoulder and over-turned down an embankment," said SFC D.O. Saddler with Georgia State Patrol Post 7. "The driver wasn't seat-belted during the crash and was ejected from the vehicle."

Saddler said an investigation of the crash scene revealed that the deceased had been in possession of an undisclosed quantity of methamphetamine, along with scales and pipes.

No charges are expected as a result of the accident.
