In its first year of existence, the East Forsyth girls basketball team is in a fight for an automatic bid to the Class 3A state tournament.

If the Lady Broncos beat North Hall on Friday (live on FM 102.9 and AM 550 WDUN), they'll seal the deal and will get a bye to the semifinals of the Region 7-3A tournament set to begin next week. It'll also give them an automatic bid to the tournament.

Ella Holbrook and Alison Hiddema have been instrumental in helping form the basketball culture and first-season success. Holbrook led the Lady Broncos past White County and into a tie for second place in the standings on Tuesday with 26 points.

Hiddema led East Forsyth the game before, against Gilmer, with 29 points and double-digit rebounds. She also had 19 in the win over West Hall as well.
