*Robby Tierman has joined Gainesville's Carroll Daniel Construction Company as Virtual Design and Construction and Design Director.  Tieman most recently served as a Project Architect and a Contract Administrator for an architecture firm based out of Atlanta.

*State Rep. Kevin Tanner of Dawsonville, who has announced plans to run for Congress, says he plans to introduce a resolution in the Georgia House calling for a Constitutional Amendment to end "partisan Presidential impeachments."   His Amendment would require a two-thirds vote instead of a simple majority in the U.S. House before impeachment proceedings can be launched against a President.

*The Quinlan Visual Arts Center, celebrating its 73rd year, is adding a new event for the general public to its annual calendar.  The Gala Preview Night Party (previously open only to people with tickets to the gala, itself) March 5, 5:30-8:00. The goal of the free event is, according to a news release, "to expand our reach by inviting all to enjoy an evening watching artists create, letting children create, encouraging conversations around creativity...bringing community together."    For more information, visit the Quinlan's website.  

*The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Training Unit is hosting a free Personal Safety Class for women next month. The class size is being capped at 24 to allow time for self-defense exercises and drills at the end of the session. The class will be held March 21, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the HCSO Willard Baxter Firearms & Training Complex at 2684 Allen Creek Road in Gainesville. Women with questions or who are interested in taking the course should email Michelle Thrasher at [email protected].   Participants are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

*This year's Gainesville March for Babies, a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, will be held April 25 at 9:00 at The Longstreet Clinic.

*Five UPS drivers who work out of Gainesville were among 30 of the company’s Georgia drivers who were honored this week for their safe driving.  They are Johnny Garner, Tracy Holloway, John McCollum, Chadwick Wingo, and Randall Woodring.                                 

*A group of Georgia Forestry Commission employees from Northeast Georgia was recognized by state legislators this week at the State Capitol. The outstanding employees for 2019 are Ken Masten,  Toccoa;  Glen Maxim, Gainesville; Brandon Merz, Tallulah Falls; Jeff Kastle, Gillsville; Chris Thompson, Watkinsville; Keith Murphy, Washington; and, Kevin Lee, White Plains.
