An unnamed man was last reported to be in critical condition after being pulled from the waters of Lake Lanier in a near-drowning incident Sunday evening.

First responders were called to Buford Dam Park at 5:17 p.m., where Lt. Justin Wilson with Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services says they found authorities administering CPR to a male who had recently been pulled from the lake.

"When firefighters arrived, Park Rangers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a Gwinnett County Police officer had taken over CPR from bystanders and applied an AED to the patient," he explained. "Gwinnett Fire paramedics assessed the patient and transported to a local hospital in critical condition."

Wilson said that federal provacy laws prevented him from disclosing more information about the patient, and that Gwinnett County Police and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would be overseeing any further release of information in the case.
