Chattahoochee National Forest fees for using trails and campgrounds are increasing starting in March.

Several popular spots in northeast Georgia will be affected by the change starting March 15th including Desoto Falls, Raven Cliffs, and Cooper Creek to name a few.

"These are some of the most iconic places you can visit in the country, whether it's Brass Town Bald, or Desoto Falls, or Coopers Creek," U.S. Forest Service spokesman StevenBekkerus said. "All of the spots are just something special to go see."

Bekkerus added the fee increases are needed. He explained, "In some of our more popular areas, they have quite a bit of infrastructure and facilities that need to be supported, whether it's restrooms, picnic areas, camping sites, fire rings, boat launches, or boat ramps."

He said most fee increases are small and still make using these public areas one of the most cost-efficient forms of entertainment for those who love the outdoors.
