Chief Barry Head sworn in as Forsyth County's 4th Fire Chief

He began volunteering for the Forsyth County Fire Department at the age of 18, but now Barry Head will serve as the county's fourth Fire Chief.

Head, who was served 25 years with the department in various capacities, received a standing ovation at the conclusion of his swearing-in ceremony at the Forsyth County Comission meeting on January 17.

The county created a video announcing Chief Head's advancement through the department.

Head discussed his plans the office.

"The citizens can expect to continue to receive top quality fire and emergency responses. None of that is going to change," Head said. "We're actually looking for areas of improvement where we can better serve our community. We're going to embrace more technology to make us more efficient."

Head has served as Interim Chief since October 2018. He is a native of Forsyth County.
