Fisherman discovered the body of a woman near the shore of Lake Lanier near Lanier Islands Parkway Friday afternoon.
Derreck Booth, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office, said investigators discovered the woman's car in a nearby parking lot and know her identity. However, authorities are not releasing any additional details until they can notify next of kin.
The Dekalb County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy, and the woman's death remains under investigation.
