When the Gainesville Spring Chicken Festival returns in April, it will have a new home:  Longwood Park.

Since its inception, the event has been held in downtown Gainesville.

"As the Chicken Capital of the World, the Spring Chicken Festival is Gainesville’s signature event,” said Regina Dyer, Gainesville Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager. “Moving the festival from the Downtown Square to Gainesville Parks and Recreation’s Longwood Park allows the city to grow the event and showcase Lake Lanier at the same time.”

This festival is hosted annually by the City of Gainesville. Event sponsorships benefit the “Gainesville Spring Chicken Scholarship” for students pursuing a career in the poultry industry, and the “You’re the Reason Scholarship” for City of Gainesville employees’ college-bound children. Winners will be announced at the festival on April 27. Applications will be accepted through the North Georgia Community Foundation website, https://www.ngcf.org/scholarships/, through March 15.

For more information about the festival, which will be held April 27, or to sponsor the event, contact the Gainesville Convention & Visitors Bureau at 770-531-6598.
