SEYMOUR, Tenn. - You couldn’t blame Indiana native Scott James if he wanted to move south to the Volunteer State.  He’s only raced twice at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee, and on both occasions, he’s gone home with the win.

The of Lawrenceburg, Indiana driver visited victory lane back over Thanksgiving weekend in the third annual Leftover, and Saturday he sped to victory in the ninth annual Hangover for a $4,000 payday.

David Crabtree paced the 32 Super Late Model qualifiers with a new track record lap of 13.012 seconds around the 3/8-mile dirt high banks, followed by Chris Barton in second and James in third.

But Crabtree suffered a tough break when he spun at the start of the 40 lap feature, allowing James to take the lead over Barton, Jackie Boggs, Ryan King and Corey Hedgecock. Things quickly went from bad to worse for Crabtree, as he slowed on lap 3 with a flat left-rear tire and pulled into the pits retiring from the race.

Back under green, James held the lead, but he would see Barton moving around him on lap 15 to take the point. Two laps later, the caution flew when Johnny Cloer slowed on the front straightaway. With the field under the yellow flag, Barton was forced into the pits with a flat right-rear tire. After quick action from his crew he dropped on the rear of the field for the restart.

That moved James moved back into the lead, followed by Mack McCarter and Boggs. James scrubbed the wall in turn three on lap 20, with McCarter getting by to take the lead. McCarter pulled ahead over James by about 10 car lengths, but the James soon reeled the leader back in. Two laps later, McCarter got against the outside wall along the front straightaway, and on lap 30 he slowed to bring the caution out.

James again inherited the lead, and went on to score the victory. Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh finished in second, with Ryan King in third, Eric Webber in fourth and Todd Coffman in fifth.

McCarter, Barton, Myles Moos, Johnny Cloer and Bo Eaton rounded out the top ten.

In other action, Lucas Lee held off his father, Michael Lee, to score the $1,200 Open Wheel Modified feature. Tyler James finished in third, followed by Kenny Carmichael Sr. in fourth, and Brent Hudson in fifth.

Jesse Lowe had the lead in the Crate Late Model feature, but slowed with an issue with just four laps to go. That opened the door for Andy Ogle to take the lead and the $1,500 victory over Greg Huskey in second, Anthony White in third, Charles Bowie in fourth and Jason Cardwell in fifth.

Ricky Smith took home the $800 winner’s payday with the Sportsman Late Model feature victory. Clyde Stanton finished in second, with William Blankenship in third, Kip Sawyer in fourth and Brandon Miller in fifth.

Eric Hux scored the $700 win in the Modified Street feature, with Eddie Stewart, Robbie Comer, David Clark, and Shannon Emery rounding out the top five.

Lee Merritt took the lead on the start of the Classic feature, and was still out front when the rains began to fall. Merritt would take the abbreviated win, with Shaun Sise in second, Tim Bounds in third, Charles Bates in fourth and Mac Lockhart in fifth.

411 Motor Speedway will kick off the 2019 season on Saturday, February 16 with the Sweetheart race. For more information, visit 411MotorSpeedway.net.
