TOCCOA — The Georgia State Patrol has released details of a serious-injury wreck in the Gumlog community of Stephens County that left one person hurt Saturday afternoon.

The wreck happened about 4:45 p.m. on Ga. 328, better known as Gumlog Road.

A 1985 Ford pickup truck driven by 23-year-old Kele Holbrooks of Eastanollee was traveling east on Ga. 328 negotiating a curve at the time of the wreck, according to Trooper 1st Class 3 Jesse Lewis of GSP Post 7 in Toccoa.

The truck traveled across the center line and off the north shoulder, striking a road sign then a tree with its front, according to Lewis. The truck then rotated counterclockwise, coming to rest off the north shoulder of Ga. 328 facing north.

Holbrooks, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Lewis said.

No update on his condition was available Sunday.
