HOMER — Banks County area residents seeking to help victims of Hurricane Florence can team up with Banks County Public Safety this week to send needed items to one affected city.
Whiteville, N.C., experienced significant flooding damage as a result of former Hurricane Florence.
Officials there say only the following items are needed:
- Glow sticks
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Formula
- Peanut butter or cheese crackers
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Hand sanitizer
- Bleach
- Peanut butter / jelly and bread
- Bottled water.
Banks County is only accepting donations of the specified items.
Items may be dropped off until Thursday, Sept. 20, with plans to try to deliver to Whiteville, N.C., on Friday, Sept. 21.
Drop-off points include:
- Banks County Fire Station 31, at 181 Industrial Park Blvd., Commerce;
- Banks County Fire Station 51, at 155 Yonah Homer Road, Homer;
- Banks County Fire Station 41, at 2348 Damascus Road, Baldwin; and
- Banks County Fire Station 21, at 4173 Old Highway 441 N., Alto.
