The closure of Main Street in Gainesville, scheduled for Sept. 17 for a downtown construction project, has been delayed until Sept. 19, due to the possibility of inclement weather from Hurricane Florence.
The road will be closed so that a crane, which will be used during the expansion of the city's downtown parking deck, can be installed.
The rest of the project remains on schedule, meaning the deck will be closed Monday, Sept. 24, for approximately 60 days.
Another 180 spaces will be added to the parking deck located at 301 Main St., which can now hold 419 vehicles.
