Jackson EMC on standby as Hurricane Florence moves closer

Posted 8:30AM on Thursday 13th September 2018 ( 5 years ago )
Jackson EMC is standing ready should Hurricane Florence cause grid damage to the utility's service area.

Jackson EMC spokeswoman April Sorrow said Wednesday night the cooperative is stocking up on supplies and freeing up manpower in the event Florence hits Northeast Georgia, but she said they are also getting ready should workers be needed elsewhere.

"We have started the discussion with other Georgia EMCs, but are also talking to neighboring states to try and determine what the needs may be," Sorrow said.

Sorrow said individuals and families can also prepare for the incoming storm by stocking up on supplies like water and non-perishable goods that might be needed in the event of a power outage.
