DAHLONEGA — Matheus Abreu and Alex Grant each scored in the first half as the University of North Georgia men's soccer team defeated Southern Wesleyan, 2-1, Wednesday evening at the UNG Soccer Complex.

The Warriors struck first as Oscar Vanegas found the back of the net on a cross from Grant Kiker in the seventh minute, but Abreu equalized 90 seconds later on a through ball from Gabriel Garcia.

After North Georgia put four more quality chances on goal, Grant finally broke the tie in the 20th minute, deflecting a Garcia shot past the Warrior goalie to give the Nighthawks a 2-1 lead, which stood for the rest of the match.

NOTES
- The Nighthawks took 30 shots in the match, the fourth most all-time, while holding SWU to just 11 shots.

- Garcia became the 20th UNG player in history with two assists in a single match.
