CALERA, Ala. — Placing four players in the top seven overall, the University of North Georgia women's golf team won the Full Moon BBQ Invitational, hosted by Montevallo, Tuesday at Calera Country Club. The Nighthawks won by 12 strokes over No. 25 West Georgia.

North Georgia stayed consistent, shooting another 302 on the second and final day of competition to run away with the tournament championship. This is North Georgia's first team title since winning the Brenau Spring Invitational in 2016.

The 302 marks both days are good enough to place in fourth for a single team round, while the final score of 604 is the best 36-hole event score in program history. Megan Sabol's tournament total of one-under is the second best score all-time, trailing only herself in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational last season.

Sabol finished in second place behind West Georgia's Franziska Bremm, who shot six-under for the tournament. Anna Greer finished alone in third after a one-over round Tuesday, while Carson Roberts finished in sixth and Karson Stone finished in a tie for seventh. Playing as an individual, Alexis Whitney finished in a tie for ninth.

The Nighthawks will next take part in the Battle at Old South, hosted by UNC Pembroke, on September 22-23 at Old South Golf Club in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
