Three teenagers were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after being involved in a boating incident near the Lake Lanier Islands campground.

The unidentified trio, which, according to Mark McKinnon with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, consisted of two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old, were on an inflatable device being towed behind a boat when the accident occurred.

At around 12:45 p.m., Hall County Fire Services Capt. Zach Brackett said the three were injured when the inflatable device struck an embankment on the shoreline.

Although their conditions were not revealed, authorities said the three were taken from the scene and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

No other information has been released, and McKinnon said the investigation into the incident will likely take a few weeks to complete.
