The Hall County Commission will vote Thursday on whether or not to apply for a federal grant to help fund the development of a park on Athens Street.

The Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program would fund 50 percent of the project's $700,000 cost according to county financial services director Zach Propes, with the remaining $350,000 coming from county funds. The park sits behind the county health department building on Athens Street.

The commission moved Monday to place the grant request on Thursday's consent agenda.

Also on the agenda will be a request from a developer looking to build an 11-lot subdivision near Lanier Islands Parkway. The just-over 9 acre property sits on Beards Road between Lanier Islands Parkway and New Bethany Road near Buford.

The applicant, Jason Jackson, is looking to rezone the property from Agricultural-Residential-III to Planned Residential Development. A public hearing will be held on the project before a final vote is given.

The Hall County Commission will meet at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road.
