The manager of TV-18 retires after 21 years

Posted 10:00PM on Sunday 1st July 2018 ( 5 years ago )

Ronny Childs has stepped away from the government access channel for Gainesville and Hall County.

Childs said at the retirement party last week, he has seen a lot of changes at TV-18 over the past two decades, mostly in the way of technology.

"We have seen the change all the way from Standard Definition cameras to High Definition cameras," Childs said. "You go from cameras that are manually operated and manipulated and always have someone to operate them, now you have robotic cameras."

Childs added he has been impressed to see TV-18 serving two government entities:  Gainesville City and Hall County government.  He said that TV-18 is the only government access channel to do so successfully.

Childs said that in his time at TV-18 he has enjoyed working with people of many government departments and takes pride in having headed up the station for so long.

The last day on the job for Childs was Friday.
