A man was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with Hall County deputies Thursday morning, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
The incident unfolded after a caller to 911 reported a suspicious man in the area of Ridgeway Mobile Home Park on Ridgeway Drive near Skelton Road.
Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth told AccessWDUN deputies responded to the scene and made contact with the man.
"At that point, he took off on foot - he ran from them - and as he was running, he pulled out a firearm and fired shots at our deputies," Booth said.
The deputies returned fire and the man was shot and killed.
Booth said the deputies immediately were placed on paid administrative leave, as is protocol with the Sheriff's Office.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to take over the investigation.
The name of the man killed has not yet been released.
