One person was injured in Barrow County Monday afternoon when storms blew through the area and toppled trees on some houses in Winder.

Capt. Scott Dakin with Barrow County Emergency Services said the storms hit the area around 1 p.m. When his crews arrived on the scene on Pleasant Hill Church Road, they found trees and power lines down. Several trees had fallen on two houses.

One person inside one of the houses was hurt and taken to the hospital. Dakin did not elaborate on the extent of the person's injuries.

In addition, Barrow County fire crews were called to the scene of a burning house on Pierce Road around 2 p.m. Dakin did not indicate a possible cause for the fire. There were no injuries reported in that incident.
