A mixed use development rezoning application in Braselton has been withdrawn ahead of the June Town Council meeting.

HECE LLC withdrew a request to change the zoning of the property, located on Highway 211 near the Publix shopping center and right across from the enterance to Chateau Elan, to

Planning and Development Director Kevin Keller said the property is about 230 acres.

"The owners wanted to change the plan and essentially reduce the size of the commercial development and also ad a residential component," said Keller.

"It went through a Planning Commission public hearing; it did not go to council publi hearing - it was supposed to originally go in April - but the applicant requested it be post-poned until June." But Keller said they recieved a letter on May 30 withdrawing the application, with not explanation in the letter as to why they were withdrawing.

The property was at one point included in the Chateau Elan PUD Master Plan, which was always zoned commercial, Keller said. It was purchased by the current owners in 2008.
