Four lineman from Jackson EMC recently volunteered to travel to Bolivia to bring electrical service to a community that had never had it before.
Lineman Greg Angel said working in a third world country was a new experience.
"As far as technology and all," Angel said. "They are not quite caught up with what we have. There were not really roads connecting the work area. We had to walk and climb to every pole."
Lineman Tommy Minish said he was motivated to go by stories from 'old timers' of when our area was first getting power back in the 1930's.
"It was really something to see that first hand," said Minish.
Angel, Minish and the others were in Bolivia for 20 days. The effort brought light to 38 households.
