One dead, multiple injuries reported in school bus wreck on Thompson Bridge Road

A Dawson County student has been confirmed as the victim in a fatal accident on Thompson Bridge Road Wednesday morning. The head-on collision was between a passenger vehicle and a Hall County school bus.

Dawson County Schools Superintendent Damon Gibbs confirmed via email that Summer Faith Anderson, 13, was killed in the wreck. She was a seventh-grader at Dawson County Middle School

Multiple injuries were reported for those both on the bus and the car. A Kilough Elementary fifth grade student also in the passenger car suffered injuries and was transported to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Officials with Hall County Schools confirmed 19 Mount Vernon Elementary students on the bus were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation after the accident in the Yellow Creek Road area of Thompson Bridge Road. Hall County Schools spokesman Gordon Higgins said in an email update there were no reports of any serious injuries to their students. 

Occupants of the passenger vehicle were transported.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
