GAINESVILLE — Gainesville High athletic director Adam Lindsey announced that Alan Griffin, Jr., has been selected to take over the Lady Red Elepants basketball program.

Currently the athletic director and an assistant principal at White County, Griffin was approved by the Gainesville City School Board on Monday.

Griffin, who last coached the boys basketball team at Pacelli Catholic School in Columbus, 2008-2016, takes over from Brenda Hill-Gilmore, who resigned the position after seven seasons in late April to take over the program at Monroe Area.

Griffin coached Pacelli to the 2016 Class A Private state quarterfinals and the 2015 Sweet 16. At White County Griffin was named the 2017-18 Region 7-4A Athletic Director of the Year.

Gainesville went 8-18 in 2017-18 but reached the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
