A year after the rebranding of its grocery store on Limestone Parkway in Gainesville, the Wiley family has decided to close The Market on Limestone.

The family, longtime grocers in the region, made the announcement in a social media post on May 1, indicating the store will close on or before May 31.

"Announcing the closing of The Market on Limestone earlier today was one of the most difficult days we’ve had in the grocery business. We have amazing employees and deep long-lasting friendships with customers we will truly miss," store owner Darrell Wiley wrote in a personal letter posted to the store's Facebook page.

The family purchased the store, a former Winn-Dixie, more than a dozen years ago.

The family’s other store, J&J Foods on Jesse Jewell Parkway, will continue to operate.
