Flowery Branch has installed an outdoor public gathering spot - known as a parklet - at 5512 Main Street.

The Main Street Parklet will give Flowery Branch visitors a place to sit and visit while they're downtown. The small deck-type structure is also perfect for an outdoor space to enjoy a snack or a drink, according to city officials, which makes the parklet beneficial to the eateries in downtown Flowery Branch.

City Clerk Melissa McCain said the parklet was designed to stay in one place.

"The City Public Works Department built it while they had 'down time' during rainy weather," McCain said in an email.

Total materials cost was about $850, according to McCain. The funds came from the Flowery Branch Public Works budget.
