After a week where the sophomore hit .500, University of North Georgia baseball player Andres Perez was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Perez had another monster week, hitting .500 with a 1.125 slugging percentage. The catcher from Duluth, Georgia, cranked three home runs on the week and had nine RBIs. He hit his first homer in a mid-week win over AUM, driving in two.

He began a three-game series at Lander with a 3-for-5 outing that included two home runs and six RBIs. He finished the series with a 2-for-4 outing with a double and another RBI. Defensively, he threw out two of the four runners who tried to steal on him. Perez leads the PBC and is among the top five batters in Division II with 19 home runs on the season.

This is Perez's second player of the week honor of the season.

The Nighthawks will wrap up regular season play with a PBC series against No. 9 Columbus State this weekend. First pitch Friday night is scheduled for 7 p.m. under the lights at Bob Stein Stadium.
