CLARKESVILLE — The Gainesville boys golf team claimed its eighth straight region crown and 40th in program history on Monday at Apple Mountain Golf Club in Clarkesville.

The Red Elephants carded a team score of 309, while Dacula finished second with a 334. Habersham Central fired a 356 and Winder a 449.

Ryan Hogan finished as low medalist for the day, firing a 74.

Hogan was joined by teammates Davis Weaver (76), Andrew Hughes (79) and AD Winston (80).

Gainesville next plays in The Invite, April 27-28 at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville. Then the Red Elephants will compete in the Area 2-6A championships on April 30 for the right to compete in the state tournament (region tournament scores no longer qualify teams for state).

Gainesville's Ryan Hogan watches a drive during the season. Hogan finished as low medalist for the Region 8-6A championships on Monday in Clarkesville.
