FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Gainesville's Spencer Ralston continued his recent hot play to highlight the showing of the Georgia men’s golf team on Friday in the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Playing the Vanderbilt Legends Club’s South Course (par 71, 7,100 yards), the sophomore from Gainesville on Friday posted team-best rounds of 3-under 68 and 1-over 72 for a total of 2-under 140 – just one shot in back of co-leaders John Augenstein of Vanderbilt and Davis Shore of Alabama.

Ralston has a scoring average of 69.45 and he is 22-under par over his last 11 rounds.

As a squad, the Bulldogs landed in sixth at 23-over 591 with rounds of 5-over 289 and 18-over 302. Liberty has the team lead at 2-over 570, followed by Alabama at 4-over 572 and Vanderbilt at 7-over 575.

In the first round, sophomore Trevor Phillips and freshman Davis Thompson each signed for a 1-over 72, followed by sophomore Will Chandler at 6-over 77. Senior Zach Healy had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 8-over 79. Healy posted a 4-over 75 in the second round, while Phillips had a 6-over 77, Thompson a 7-over 78 and Chandler a 9-over 81.

Phillips followed Ralston at 7-over 149. Thompson landed at 8-over 150, followed by Healy at 12-over 154 and Chandler at 16-over 158.

A third round of 18 holes is tentatively slated for Saturday, but the forecast is for heavy rains. The Mason Rudolph Championship will conclude with 18 holes on Sunday.
