Six students in the Hall County School System have been selected as finalists or alternates for this summer's Governor’s Honors Program.

The Governor’s Honors Program is a residential program for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors. Administered by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, it takes place on the campus of Berry College in Rome. The 2018 program will be the 55th summer, making it the longest continually running program of its kind in the nation.

Over 3,000 students from across the state applied and 1,600 students interviewed and auditioned in February.

Students will arrive at Berry College on June 17.  For four weeks, they will spend the morning in their major area of nomination, exploring topics not usually found in the regular high school classroom. During the afternoons, students choose one of the other areas in which to study. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts, and performances.
