GAINESVILLE — Gainesville baseball shut out Dacula 7-0 on Wednesday at Ivey-Watson -- and saw their hopes of a region title simultaneously lifted by Winder-Barrow's 5-4 win over Apalachee.

The Red Elephants (16-7, 8-3 Region 8-6A) are even with Winder in region record with four games to play -- though the Bulldoggs won 2-of-3 against Gainesville earlier this season.

Kyle York pitched a complete game on Wednesday, scattering 4 hits in the shutout performance. He also struck out 7 batters and yielded just 2 walks.

York also provided 2 hits, including a double, and 2 RBI at the plate, while Jackson Kemp went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Cale Conley also smacked a triple and drove in a run, while Jared Smith added a double. Banks Griffith provided a hit and scored a run, and Collier Scott had a hit and an RBI.

Gainesville travels to Dacula on Friday.

NORTH HALL 7,
GREATER ATLANTA CHRISTIAN 2

Caleb Clark pitched 5 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 9 batters to earn the win for the Trojans, as they edged toward the No. 1 seed from Region 7-3A on Wednesday in Norcross.

Charlie Erickson pitched 2 innings of hitless relief to earn the save.

Reese Olson helped lead North Hall at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, while Caleb Wiley also finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Tyler Brooks also finished 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Dylan Wiley went 1-for-3 and drove in 2 runs.

The Trojans (18-4, 13-1 Region 73-A) will wrap their three-game series with GAC on Friday in Gainesville.

JEFFERSON 8,
ST. PIUS 6

The Dragons answered a 4-0 deficit in the top of the first with a five-run bottom half of the frame and never trailed again, as the each team chased the other's starting pitcher in the early going on Wednesday in Jefferson.

Will Wood came on in relief and settled things for Jefferson, allowing just 3 hits and 1 run in 4 innings work to earn the win. Derek Vaughn also chipped in with 2 innings of relief to earn the save, allowing just 2 hits and 1 run.

Lane Watkins helped lead the Dragons (16-7, 9-2 Region 8-4A) at the plate, going 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Billy Finch also went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Sammy Elegreet and Ryan Godfrey, while Clayton Jones doubled.
