Three candidates — two women and one man — have qualified for a special election to fill a post on the Hoschton City Council.
Melissa Broy, Tracy Carswell and Hope Weeks will be competing to fill the remainder of the term left behind by Tracy Jordan, who resigned March 7 to pursue the Georgia Insurance Commissioner post, Hoschton City Administator April Plank confirmed to AccessWDUN.
The special election will be held May 22, the same day as the primary elections for the 2018 midterms, though Hoschton residents will have to make a special trip to the Hoschton Depot if they wish to cast a ballot in the city council race.
The special election could not be done on the same ballot as the primaries, said Plank in a prior interview with AccessWDUN.
Weeks is making her second appearance on a special election ballot, losing a race to Susan Powers on March 20. Powers replaced Scott Butler, who resigned in December.
