An agri-entertainment venue in northwest Hall County has been approved to hold farm weddings by the Hall County Commission.

The commission approved the special use at its Thursday meeting. The nearly 28-acre tract on the north side of Chestatee Road just west of Green Hill Road features a home, a barn and a small lake.

Some commissioners expressed concerns, however, about problems from noise, since the property is bordered to the north and the west by residential neighborhoods. Several conditions were added to the approval, one of which prohibits the venue from playing amplified music outdoors on the property after 8:00 p.m. Indoor amplification would be allowed until the end of the venue's hours of operations, which are until 9:00 p.m.

Amy Pierce, who lives on the property and would operate the site, said that she was willing to comply with all of the county's regulations. She said that the staff would have policies in place to monitor the noise level.

"I talked to several local DJ's and musicians that specialize in weddings," Pierce said. "We've decided that we would only allow licensed and insured DJ's or musicians, no iPods or 'friend of a friend has DJ equipment'."

Nobody spoke in opposition to the request, but nearby Green Hill Road resident Timothy Freeman spoke in favor of the venue, saying he thought it would be a good addition to the area.

"It'd bring a great attraction to many couples and families, it's a beautiful place," Freeman said.

The special use was approved unanimously.
