Voters in Clermont selected a new town council member Tuesday, with only three votes separating the two candidates.
Town Clerk Sandra Helton says Cynthia Shubert-Jett defeated Eric Thomas.
Shubert-Jett will replace Robin Brown who vacated the post in December. Brown had been serving the remainder of Thomas' term.
Thomas resigned from the post in May of 2016. The term runs through December 31 of 2019.
