Forsyth County has earned the title of "healthiest county in Georgia" for the sixth time.

Researchers examine the length and quality of life among many other factors in order to come to their conclusions about health in each county.

County spokeswoman Jody Gardner tells AccessWDUN, much of life in the county contributes to the distinction.

"We have a phenomenal parks and recreation system," Gardner said. "That has more than 27-hundred acres. Everything from hiking trails and disc golf to athletic fields and playgrounds."

She added that much of life in the rest of the county feeds into overall health, as well.

"The county also has a great school system, we've got top-notch public safety services," Gardner added. "Our residents have access to great health services as well.

Oconee, Cherokee, Fayette, and Gwinnett counties round out the top five.  Hall County placed 13th this year.  Detailed findings on Hall and other counties can be found here.

The study is conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
