Mother Nature wreaked havoc with the North Georgia racing scene over the weekend, as several events were either postponed or cut short due to wet weather on Saturday.

Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia was slated to play host to the Southern Nationals Bonus Series on Saturday night. But with persistent showers forecast for the area, race and track officials made the call earlier in the day to postpone the event.

The series will now visit the race on May 12. For more information, visit http://www.southernnationalsseries.com.

Meanwhile, Dixie Speedway will return to action with its regular season opener on April 14. For more information, visit DixieSpeedway.com.

Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, Georgia was set to run its second race of the 2018 season, but only made it halfway through the scheduled heat races before the showers moved in over the 3/8 mile raceway.

The speedway now looks towards its third race date of the season on Saturday, March 17. For more info, visit Hartwell-Speedway.com.

Up the road in Lavonia, Georgia, Lavonia Speedway was set to run its first race of the season after last month’s Winter Shootout was rained out.

Unfortunately, Saturday’s races suffered the same fate, as the rains moved it around 3 pm over the raceway.

Saturday’s race will be made up on Friday night, March 16, while the Winter Shootout is now slated for March 24.

Rain washed out several race programs over the weekend, including at Georgia's Lavonia Speedway, seen here from an earlier rain out.
