Echols, Magnus recognized by Gainesville Jaycees

Drew Echols and Bethany Sauls Magnus are this year's Gainesville Jaycees Young Man and Woman of the Year.

The awards were presented at the club's annual banquet Thursday night.

MAGNUS SELECTED AS YOUNG WOMAN OF THE YEAR

 Magnus' involvement in community activities is "wide-ranging," according to her nomination.

She is a sustaining member of the Gainesville-Hall County Junior League, a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Hall County, the Georgia Mountain Food Bank, and the North Georgia Community Foundation. She has served in the past on the Board of Directors of WomenSource and is a graduate of Leadership Hall County as well as the Young Lawyer's Leadership Academy through the State Bar of Georgia.

"Bethany’s contributions to her community will be evident for years to come as she continues to volunteer her time and her talents to the many, not for profit organizations that serve our community," the nomination reads.

In addition, Magnus is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Gainesville and serves as a member of the Women’s Ministry Steering Committee for First Baptist Church where she has also been involved in the Children’s Ministry

ECHOLS RECEIVED YOUNG MAN OF THE YEAR HONORS

Echols is described as a "consistent voice for Georgia's leading industry:  agriculture."

Cited for being at the forefront in the growth of the family-owned, five-generation business, Jaemor Farms, he is described as "continuously innovating and improving farming techniques and encouraging his peers to do the same."

Echols is active in several capacities in his church, Level Grove Baptist in Cornelia.

In addition, he has also been involved in Leadership Georgia, the Georgia Soil and Water Commission, Hall County Farm Bureau, and more.

Echols is described on the nomination form as "a visionary...an example of someone who is always trying to better himself and those around him."
