AUGUSTA — After being named Steak 'n Shake Nighthawk of the Week yesterday, University of North Georgia sophomore Kylee Smith was named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Smith went 3-0 with a save at the South/Southeast Crossover with a 0.38 ERA. The sophomore from Suwanee, Georgia, struck out 35 in 18.1 innings of work. She scattered eight hits and allowed no run in going a full nine innings in a 1-0 win over Embry-Riddle, striking out 15. She struck out 11 and allowed only three hits in her second start against Rollins.

Smith made two relief appearances; striking out three in 1.1 innings against Rollins and six with an earned run in three innings against West Alabama. Now 5-0 on the season, she leads the conference in wins, strikeouts, strikeouts per game, complete games, shutouts and is second in ERA.

Smith joins Amber Johns as the two pitchers this season to win Pitcher of the Week honors.

The Nighthawks' home opener originally scheduled for tomorrow afternoon has been postponed due to forecasted inclement weather. The next game for North Georgia will be on the road as they take part in the Cougar Classic at Columbus State on Saturday morning. First pitch against Wingate is set for 11 a.m.
