Lanier up almost 1.5 feet in a week's time

The level of Lake Lanier has increased almost 1.5 feet over the past seven days and is up more than seven feet from a year ago.

Heavy rains across the Upper Chattahoochee River Basin helped push the level to 1068.37 as of mid-morning Sunday, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  That is 7.39 feet higher than it was Feb. 11, 2017.

And, if past history is any indication, it should increase even more in the next few days as runoff from this weekend's rains flows into the reservoir.

Many places in the basin have received several inches of rain since last Sunday.

Full pool is 1071 and it's been almost two years since it was at that level.
