DAHLONEGA — University of North Georgia head women's soccer coach Chris Adams has announced the signing of six student-athletes for the 2018 recruiting class. Jazmin Adlam, Abbie Crane, Haleigh Elmore, Brooke Fitzhugh, Mary Michels and Lakeview Academy's Meredith Tucker will be part of the women's soccer program after their high school graduations this year.

"We are very excited to welcome this 2018 class to the Nighthawk family!" said Adams. "Each signee brings something different to the table and should have a huge impact on our program immediately. We anticipate numerous of these recruits to be starters from the start. I think they will come in prepared and push the current players. With this group's addition, we will be extremely deep in the midfield and forward positions. I cannot wait to get this group on campus and in a Nike Nighthawk uniform!"

Coming from Orlando, Adlam is a four-year varsity starter at William R. Boone High School. In her past two seasons, she scored 33 goals and 21 assists, winning the MVP award in her junior season. She is a member of the National Honor Society and HOSA. The daughter of Howard and Lea Adlam is planning to major in biology. "Jazmin is an explosive player who has such a terrific skill set and could play numerous positions for us," said Adams. "She is left footed, extremely athletic and has a wonderful attitude towards the game."

Crane, daughter of Andrew and Cindy, is a four-year starter for Whitewater High School. Last season, she was named MVP and Fayette County Player of the Year after a 31-goal season. She plans to major in general studies BSN when she starts at UNG in the fall. "Abbie is a tenacious goal scorer with a fantastic work ethic," said Adams. "Abbie will have a huge impact on our attack with her ability to stretch defenses with her pace. She attacks very well and is also willing to do her part defensively."

As captain for two years of the Savannah Arts Academy girls' soccer team, Elmore was named to the All-Region First Team and was the region's Offensive Player of the Year. She is a member of the Spanish Honor Society and the Key Club. The daughter of William and Melanie Elmore plans to major in biology at UNG. "Haleigh is a very composed wide forward who makes great decisions with the ball," said Adams. "Haleigh is going to benefit greatly from our strength and conditioning program and be a force to be reckon with in the very near future."

A Griffin, Georgia, native, Fitzhugh is a three-year All-Region honoree for Spalding High School headed into her senior campaign. Last season, she was the region's Offensive Player of the Year and has been the top goal scorer all three seasons for Spalding. As a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club, the daughter of Alexander and Kelley Fitzhugh is currently undecided on a major at North Georgia. "Brooke is an amazing athlete with world class speed," said Adams. "Brooke will play up top and cause our opponents fits keeping up with her. Brooke is versatile and could see some time both out wide as well as at center forward."

Michels has been a huge part of the Wando High School soccer program in Charleston, South Carolina, during her high school career, earning All-Region honors in her freshman and sophomore years and becoming the leading goal scorer her sophomore year. The daughter of Mark and Missy is a Beta Club member and is currently undecided on a major at UNG. "Mary is a playmaking midfielder with an array of passing ability," said Adams. "Mary sees the game at a very high level and can thread balls into even tiny openings. We are looking for Mary to provide lots of assist from the midfield and should score some goals as well."

Tucker, daughter of Allen and Lisa, has been a four-year starter for Lakeview Academy, earning All-Area honors in her sophomore and junior seasons. She holds the single-game record at Lakeview for assists with six. A member of the Beta Club and the National Art Honors Society, she plans to go Pre-Med in college at UNG. "Meredith is a strong holding midfielder who is also an incredible free kick taker," said Adams. "Meredith is powerful and has a tremendous shot from anywhere. Meredith provides a different look for us in the midfield and should be able to handle the defensive task in the midfield to free up our attacking midfielders to concentrate on our attack."
