A Gainesville man died and two other people, one a juvenile, were injured in a traffic accident on Browns Bridge Road in Forsyth County Tuesday night, deputies said.

Authorities responded to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Bethel Road around 9:50 p.m., according to a media release from Forsyth County Sheriff's Cpl. Doug Rainwater.

"According to Deputy First Class Phil Alexander, Traffic Specialist for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, 55 year-old Brian Lee Potter of Gainesville, (Forsyth County) Ga., was pronounced deceased at the scene," Rainwater stated in the release.

Potter was driving west on Browns Bridge Road when he lost control of a 2005 Mercedes Benz, according to investigators.  The vehicle crossed the centerline and hit an eastbound 2017 Chevrolet Equinox.

The Equinox driver, Salim Manji, 57, of Gainesville, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Rainwater said Potter's juvenile male passenger was flown to a hospital because of injuries.  The passenger was described as a family member of Potter, but his name was not released.

Neither patient condition was immediately available.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation Wednesday morning.
