ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — In the second and final round of the World Golf Invitational Monday, the University of North Georgia women's golf team shaved nine strokes off of their first round score to finish alone in ninth place. Megan Sabol finished in a tie for seventh place with a 36-hole total of four-over-par 148.

Sabol's two-round total ties her for the fifth-best 36-hole score in program history. Her 148 marks the fourth time that a Nighthawk has finished a two-round tournament with that score.

The Nighthawks finished one stroke behind Cal State Monterey Bay for eighth place and just three strokes behind seventh-place Lynn. Nova Southeastern ran away from the field on the second day of competition, firing a seven-under-par 281 as a team to finish 15 strokes ahead of host Flagler for the tournament championship.

Florida Tech, Saint Leo and SCAD-Savannah rounded out the top five. Other Peach Belt schools in the tournament were Young Harris (13th) and Columbus State (16th).

The Nighthawks will next hit the links on February 26-27 at the LMU Spring Intercollegiate in Orange Park, Florida.
