The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released information about the man who was shot during a traffic stop outside a Rabun County nursing home early Thursday.

The GBI identified the man who died as Brett Dontae Bush, 28, of Lithonia.

Dashcam video of the traffic stop, released by Clayton Police Department, shows Bush exit the rear window of a wrecked car that had been fleeing from a Clayton police officer.

That pursuit of the Honda Accord involved began about 3:09 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 441 South (Ga. 15) in Clayton, according to GBI.

Bush then jumps onto the hood of the car and the ground, swinging what appears to be a knife at the officer, defying repeated verbal commands not to move, the video shows.

As the man nears the officer, the officer fires several times and the man falls to the ground, the video shows.

The incident occurred outside Mountain View Health Care Center on Warwoman Road at Rickman Road in Clayton

The video shows law enforcement personnel, including the officer who fired the shots, provide care for the man until medical personnel arrive.

In this screen capture of dashcam video released by Clayton Police Department, the Clayton officer, left, orders the man not to move. At this point, the man has exited through a back window of the car and climbed onto its roof.
